Aspire 3 does not recognize Acer G226HQL monitors connected thru Dell docking station

Unfortunately, I am not very tech savvy; please bear with me.  The two Acer G226HQL monitors I bought are not HDMI so I had to buy a VGA to HDMI converter.  Could this be part of the problem?  I would have expected to see the two monitors on device manager but they are not there.  The docking station does show up; twice.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Try turning on a monitor with the FN+F5 toggle key combo. Jack E/NJ

Thanks, I tried the FN+F5 combo but it didn't work either.  For some reason the computer just will not recognize these monitors.

Try to connect a monitor directly to the HDMI port with the adapter cable. No dock. If no joy, try another computer with an HDMI port. It may be the adapter cable. Make sure the HDMI port is working OK with a regular HDMI cable out to a TV. Jack E/NJ

Connecting the monitor directly to the HDMI port on the computer worked.  Since the mouse if going through the docking station I suspect the issue is the Dell docking station does not recognize the Acer non-HDMI monitors.  Thanks.

Does the Delldock directly feed an HDMI TV OK using a regular HDMI cable?

Yes, it does.  I think the issue is the docking station simply doesn't recognize a non-Dell monitor.  Thanks.

I think it's not able to provide a VGA output to any VGA monitor via the HDMI port. Probably to save money with fewer HDMI port connections to accomodate VGA. What is the Delldock model number? Jack E/NJ

You might have better luck with a displayport-2-VGA adapter. Jack E/NJ
