Hello:

I purchased an Acer Aspire E 14 ES1-411-C507 Signature Edition Laptop back in 2015 and I have been using it from time to time.
Recently, the hard drive in the laptop crashed but I have no way to recover the Windows 8.1 (no disc came in the original box).
Is there anyway I can still download a Windows 8.1 ISO image?
I assumed that the license key is loaded in BIOS and I don't have to provide Windows license key when I reload the OS. Is it correct?

Thank you.

You can either download the iso and make the bootable stick using Microsoft's media creation tool  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery  or try to order the original Win8.1 recovery stick from the ACER store. https://store.acer.com/en-ca/extended/recovery/

The Microsoft media is free but may not have all the correct device drivers and system files which you would have to wade through. The ACER version is about $50 and has everything needed based on your machine's serial number id (SNID)

    Thank you for your help.
I downloaded Win 8.1 and trying to install it to my Acer laptop but I was prompted to enter product key.
As per mentioned, I do not have the product key.
    Please advise.

Is the original label with either the serial number id (SNID) or MS key on the bottom of the laptop? If not, do you have packaging with the UPC label? Jack E/NJ

I still have all the packing. Original label has serial number and SNID but no MS key on the bottom of the laptop.

Google "windows 8.1 product key" with the quotes. Try those keys. Even if you get it to install, there will still be one more relatively painless Microsoft hoop to jump through for 'permanently' activating it on your OEM licensed machine. Jack E/NJ
