Hi guys,

Since i've got my notebook few months ago i've been looking for some hardware upgrade tips to bring up the performance. I'm an amateur videographer working in Premiere Pro. I know that this machine is not designed for such tools - but so far i have no budget for hi end notebook or space for desktop setup.
Few days ago i've got 16gb RAM and now it's a time for a SSD upgrade. I'm considering getting an external Samsung T5 512-1TB plugged via USB-C for a media files and getting an internal SSD for media cache (no bracket or cable - just embty space for 2,5" drive). I'm wondering i rather should go for a Sata or PCI(if it's even possible getting a cable and plugging in to motherboard) And what would work faster. I'm considering to keep OS and PP on one drive while the other will be just for cache.

I will really appreciate all the advices and solutions. I was looking at search engine but haven't found this particular topic.

I have an Aspire 5 515-51g - i5 8250u (1,6ghz - 3,4 ghz),
Intel UHG 620, Nvidia MX 130,
20gb DDR4 (4gb on mainboard + 16 gb DDR4 2400mhz in socket),
M.2 SSD 256gb (SK Hynix hfs256g39tnd-n210a),
Win10 64bit Home

Greets, Kuba

    Good afternoon Kubaa !

What EXACT model of your laptop?
    Example: a515-51G-C97B

I believe that both upgrades will bring you a good increase in final performance, however, due to the fact that the dedicated GPU does not provide adequate support for your applications, you will still have this limitation.

Are you sure this is the exact model?

I have another question : Is it possible to place there the fastest NVMe SSD in the spot where HDD should be and is there going to be any 'bottle neck'?
