Acer Swift 3 SF314-54: Will 4gb 2133mhz + 8gb 2400mhz (flex mode) run on dual channel mode?

My laptop is pre-installed with 4gb ddr4 2133mhz. I already know that Ideally you want to pair 2 rams with same size, frequency, latency etc for dual channel. This will totally depend on if and what I can buy, as it it becoming difficult to find sodimm @2133mhz.

1. option 1 is to buy 4gb ddr4 2133mhz CL15
2. option 2 is buy 4gb ddr4 2400 CL17
3. option 3 is uy 8gb ddr4 2400 CL17 (i like the extra 4gb for chrome and some apps I use for work)

Based on what i've read here. I know that this model supports and will run dual channel and set both @2133mhz. What I need to know and confirm is Option 3. Will it run the pre-installed 4gb ddr4 and the other half (4gb)of 8gb in dual channel mode @2133 and the remaning half 4gb at single channel OR it will run the total 12gb at single channel?

Ah, the wonders of DDR4.

What EXACT model of your laptop?
Example: SF314-54-56L8

As for the dual-channel, most users and even "experts" are unaware that in fact, when the system supports them, it does not matter what capacity, frequency (so long as they are compatible with the system), CAS, etc.

The dual-channel principle is that memory banks be used in pairs.

Then in a system that supports, if you use the 4 + 4, 8 + 8 or 4 + 8 configuration, the dual will be activated.

Of course in these cases the final performance will be reduced every time the amount of information stored exceeds the limit of the double capacity in the slot with the largest space.

Therefore, the ideal is to use RAMs in identical pairs, such as those sold in kits.

I recommend buying compatible ram from Crucial or Kingston. I'm not saying other ram won't work properly with your existing ram module, but I/we have no way of knowing what is on the SPD chips.

When you buy compatible RAM from Crucial or Kingston using their memory finder tools, they take the guess work out of it and greatly increase you chance of compatiblity not only with your computer, but also with your existing ram at the best speed.

I don't think you understood what I wrote. He will have a total of 12 GB if he goes with option 3. I didn't say that one of his sticks of ram would be single channel. I was speaking in totality. Here's a test video.

You're confusing "manufacturers" with "assemblers".
