newbie -- what to do first

I just joined this Forum. I purchased an Aspire E-5-576G laptop. I am an experienced user, but I'm trying to be smart at how to start things off. The first thing I did was plug it in. I did this yesterday afternoon and I'll charge the battery for 24 hours. My plan this afternoon is to do the W10 installation (i'll follow the instructions, hopefully no issues there). I assume there will be hours of updates. I assume I'll have to install it to my network before doing the updates. I then plan to install Macrium Reflect (my preferred backup program). I'll then back up my computer to establish a base copy. So a question: Can I (and if so should I) back it up before doing updates. After that, I'll install my AV (I have a subscription to Norton) and then a variety of other programs that I use.
So, any comments on this plan? Suggestions?

I forgot to mention that I will need to install Chrome before I can install my backup program!

Ideally you should do the cloning before updating windows and installing the programs! But if you choose to first download the updates and programs, I suggest that before cloning, you do a disk cleanup as an administrator and also defragment the hard drive!

I thought that I am forced to do updates first. I'll see. I have an SSD drive, so I think no defrag needed. I will definitely get rid of bloatware early on
