Aspire ES-15 NO cumulative updates will install

My ES-15 is running Windows 10 64-bit version 1803 build 17134.254

I haven't been able to upgrade from this version and NO cumulative updates will install.

I'm continually getting the error message "A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we're trying to install. We'll keep trying to install." However, the error number reported is 0x800240034, which is supposed to be due to download errors.

Device manager is showing no problems

I have used the update troubleshooter more tuimes than I care to remember

I've tried the following any number of times :-

SFC / SCANNOW
DISM
Deleting the Windows/SoftwareDistribution folder

I've gone through the recommended method to upgrade to 1903 - the same thing happens as when I try to upgrade to 1809 - the upgrade installs, but then rolls back to 1803.

I've been fighting this problem for more than six months and I'd be EXTREMELY grateful if anyone can suggest a solution !

What is the exact model of your notebook? Example v3-571-6682! Also, have you tried updating the drivers on the intel website before installing the 1903 version?

Can you please advise where I can find the exact model number - this is all Acer's system information utility gives :-

As far as I can see, all the Acer drivers are up to date - many of them on the Acer site for this model are pretty old !

Hi,
You could try using the Update Assistant, if you already haven't tried it. I would suggest you to backup your system and data with Macrium reflect free and create a bootable USB drive with the same program to be safe.

Already tried update assistant - the latest version installed, but then immediately rolled-back.

I appreciate your comments about Macrium Reflect Free - it's a gem I've been using for years but not enough people know about it.

Before upgrading windows to the 1903 version, go to the intel website and update the drivers: https://www.intel.com.br/content/www/br/pt/support/detect.html

Thanks for your suggestion.

I was able to switch the site you mentioned to English and I installed the three updated drivers it suggested.

Unfortunately, cumulative updates are giving exactly the same error message, but I now also have this driver problem :-

Do tyou thunk that it's worth trying to upgrade to 1903 while this driver error is still present ?

You can try yes! I would like you to try to uninstall this driver and then restart the computer to see if the error is resolved!

Try to update the driver marked with exclamation mark by rightclicking it and selecting Update - Search for drivers online.

also update bios provided in acer website last released on 1/4/2019.

after completing above process try to update your laptop i think it will definately update.

If you are telling this process would help in updating Intel SST OED driver, then this is wrong, atleast on my G3-572. I had to manually update it.
