Hi.
I just bought Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-54-5692) a week ago. Wondering what will happen if I slot in another ram (CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 8gb)? Because currently I am using Samsung 4GB DDR4 2666 1Rx16 PC4 SODIMM originally provided by Acer. Will it affect my laptop performance? Or I need to change both to same brand; either samsung / corsair. Thanks.

Hi! Below is the System Memory specs for your computer.

Technically speaking you can use different brand RAM with same specs on each slot of computer and it should work. However, it is always recommended to go with same brand RAM on each slot to get smoother performance.

Hi. Thanks a lot for your recommendation. Btw, Corsair package memory pin is 288 compared to samsung which is 260 pin. Does this make any different?
    Hi,
Corsair module you are looking at is for Desktops, 288 pin modules are DIMM modules, you need SODIMM module for your laptop.

If you would suggest from this four item, which one would you prefer?
    1. Kingston Hyper X Impact
    2. Patriot Viper 4 Series
    3. Crucial (Standard)
    4. Samsung (Originally provided)
    Thanks.
I would go for cheaper option, my choice will be Crucial or Samsung, all memory modules work in similar manner and not much difference between them IMHO.

    Hi,
What's the speed of the intended Corsair module and does it come with the heat sink? Anyway, I would suggest you to go for the 2666MHz Samsung module, it's better to match the speed of the current module and avoiding modules with the heat sink in laptops.

Hi. Heat Sink? Is this what you mean?

ALUMINUM HEAT SPREADER -Overclocking overhead is limited by operating temperature. The unique design of the VENGEANCE LPX heat spreader optimally pulls heat away from the ICs and into your system’s cooling path, so you can push it harder.

Corsair module also 2666Mhz. Btw, if compared with pricing, difference of RM 16/unit. Samsung is cheaper. If using same module, Corsair would be better right? Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes, that's correct, they both used for same purpose,  heat spreader is beneficial in systems where you intend to overclock but useless in laptops. I would go for cheaper RAM modules than paying too much for little or no benefit at all.

    Hi,
Install CPU-z and run it, go to SPD tab and find the brand name of module installed in your laptop.
