Wifi much slower on my 2 ACER laptops than on iphone

My internet speed should be 80mbps. I am getting this on my iphone, but on both my Acer laptops I am getting about 20mbps. I have contacted my internet provider many times who insist it is not their problem. I have updated my drivers but still the same. After disabling and then re-enabling the wifi I am able to get the full 80mbps, but only for about 10 minutes. After then it goes back down to about 20 mbps. Any help with this would be most appreciated.

    The laptops are Aspire V 15 Nitro and Aspire E 15
    Router is a brand new TP Link 450mbps
    I can't change the bandwidth/ channel on it
    3 devices connected - the 2 laptops and the iphone

    VN7-571G-70VW and E5-531G-P4A4

    What model of the router?
    TL-WR940N

    Which band are you using?
    I'm not sure if this is the correct info you need:
    Channel Width gives the options of Auto, 20MHz or 40MHz. Mine is set to 'auto'

    What channel is set?
    This is set to auto

    Already tested on other networks?
    Sorry, I don;t know what you mean by this. I only have 1 wifi network

    What bandwith is set on the router?
    Where do I find the bandwidth?

    Perform some tests to try to identify the error.

    1- On the router, choose a non-overlapping channel option, such as 1, 6, and 11
    Restart and test.

    2- Test each of the devices separately in your network and check the signal strength and connection speed.

    I have a theory already formed, but I need these testses to certify a possible solution

    I have tried the different channels (restarted both router and laptop before testing), results as below:

    Channel 1: 19mbps
    Channel 6: 0.7mbps
    Channel 11: 20mbps
    Auto: 17mbps

    By the test we already have a reference that some neighboring networks are generating soreposition.
    Keep on channel 11 and do the following:
    Turn off your smartphone and one of the laptops and test with only one connected and see what speed it reaches.
    After that, turn off the laptop and just turn on the other and redo the test.
    Finally, disconnect both and just test your smartphone.

    Hi - here are the results from these tests:

    Keep on channel 11 and do the following:
    Turn off your smartphone and one of the laptops and test with only one connected and see what speed it reaches: 19mbps

    After that, turn off the laptop and just turn on the other and redo the test: 13mbps

    Finally, disconnect both and just test your smartphone: 54mbps

    VN7 uses IEEE 802.11ac standard board
    E5 uses IEEE 802.11n standard
    If your smartphone is a newer model, you may use the ac as well.
    In this network configuration, the slowest connection speed will be set by default.
    More practical example:
    If 3 devices with final speeds are 100Mb, 15Mb and 65Mb, the final network speed for all (when all are connected or connected) will be 15Mb.

    Hi - no I haven't tried any firmware updates as I don't know/ understand what this is or how to do it.
    Are you able to explain this to me please?

    Download the firmware and follow the instructions according to the version of your model:
    After updating the firmware, restart the router and redo the tests.

    I have tried to update the firmware (following the instructions exactly) but am not sure if it completed successfully. The reboot went from 0 - 100% but then a message came up to say 'A network change was detected'. I tried several times and the same thing happened each time. The number of the Firmware Version did not change either.

    However I still went through all the tests again trying the various channels on each device (while the other devices were switched off):

    Channel auto:
    Laptop 1: 18 / Laptop 2: 22 / iphone: 75

    Channel 1:
    Laptop 1: 20 / Laptop 2: 20 / iphone: 59

    Channel 6:  
    Laptop 1: 23 / Laptop 2: 20 / iphone: 67

    Channel 11:  
    Laptop 1: 20 / Laptop 2: 70 / iphone: 70

    You might try going to the following link and doing the "Temporarily turn off firewalls" , "Temporarily turn off any antivirus...."  and then "Use network reset to reinstall network devices".

    Thanks topcat7736. I actually went through all these steps before posting on here, however I have tried it again now but it makes no difference to the internet speed.

    Does anyone know if the Firmware update was successful, and if not, what I can do again to ensure it completes?

    Hi

    I chose the latest download of the firmware (TL-WR940N(US)_V6_171030) which matches exactly the info on the bottom of my router (TL-WR940N(US) Ver:6.1)

    This is actually the firmware that was already on the router - the router is only 2 weeks old:
    Firmware Version:
    3.18.1 Build 171030 Rel.43957n

    I connected the router to the internet via an ethernet, and connected the router to the laptop via an ethernet

    Any other suggestions as to what I may have done wrong - or can do next?
