Aspire V3-571 boot issues

Hi all, I've managed to find what I thought was a good deal to get a second hand laptop, however it seems the seller may not have been completely honest :0/

As it was second hand I completely formatted the hard drive to reset to factory settings, assuming that it would give me the feeling of a brand new laptop however now when I try to start the laptop I get the 'no bootable device' error. I've managed to get windows 10 reinstalled and can get the thing working as I'm writing this from it so I know the hard-drive isn't broken or unreadable or detached. I've accessed the F2 menu to check up the boot option, there is no option to change from legacy to UEFI (or whatever the other option is).

To get the thing to start I have to power on, hit F12 and select Windows boot manager, but I also can't make that the default option in the F2 menu. Is there anything else I can do?

It's running BIOS V1.13 if that's any help

Your machine was factory-installed Win7 with a normal BIOS chip, not UEFI bootstrapper. So there is no UEFI option and cannot be converted to one. The original hidden ACER Win7 recovery partition has probably been wiped out. You can try moving the HDD to the top of the BIOS boot order if it isn't already. Jack E/NJ

The HDD was the top of the order I think, but a little update to my saga that's only getting worse 😕.

So I got a USB, made a recovery disc and tried starting with that to rewipe the HDD and hopefully fix the issue. I spent about 4 hours reinstalling everything from the recovery USB only for it to tell me right at the end that it had failed and now I can't actually do anything with the laptop I don't think. I actually tried a complete wipe, a my files wipe and then another complete wipe just to see and all 3 times I recieved the error with installation message.

What are my options from here? I know you can buy recovery USB's from the internet, are they any good or worth the money to try? Is the HDD actually fried and should I get a new one? Or should I just open it up and check the connection, could it actually just be that? I could always take to a laptop specialist I suppose lol

Tap F2 into the BIOS menu at boot time to make sure it's at the top of the Boot tab order. Also make sure the D2D and F12 options are enabled in the BIOS Main tab. Then F10 to save BIOS settings and exit. Then shut the machine completely off again. Then turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. If the recovery partition is somehow still intact by some miracle, a Win7 recovery screen should appear is in the video below. Try that before we move on to the next step. Jack E/NJ

Ty for trying to help, yes the HDD was the top of the order, D2D and F12 are both enabled but Alt and F10 did not work, it continued to go to the boot error screen :0/
