I have an Aspire E 15     E5-576G-5762.  It is at 4% and every time I plug it in it says plugged in, Not Charging.  Its really aggravating me as I have only had the laptop for about a month.  I have tried all of the methods on google with uninstalling the Battery control memory drivers and reinstalling.  I have used the battery reset pin in the back of the PC and everything.  Please Help!  It is on warranty but I would rather not send it in.

    Good night Porter118  !

    Check the power interruption button.
    The interrupt button not being pressed correctly may generate this problem.
    There is a power interrupt button:

    If it is not pressed down or the case is misaligned, errors may occur.
    Check the same and use something like a layer of insulation tape to force and press this button correctly.

    @Porter118

    Have you tried by updating the BIOS. because most of the battery issues would be fixed with it. Please be careful while updating BIOS.

    >>>I have only had the laptop for about a month>>>

    Shut the machine completely off. Then turn it back on again and IMMEDIATELY press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. A recovery screen should appear as in the video below. Follow directions to reset the machine to factory default. If this doesn't work, then you should return the machine to the vendor as defective ASAP for a refund or exchange before the vendor's RMA policy period expires. If the vendor exchange period has expired then arrange for warranty repair service at this link  http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support

    I could not find the Power protection button thing under the cover.  THe PC in your pic looks different.  Updating the Bios I will try later but would like to know if there is an easier approach.  Will reset the computer tonight for sure.

    Hi Porter118,
    The only way to tell where the failure is occurring is to use a meter and check the different mosfet driving circuits. The chip which controls charging sees your 18 volts coming in but doesn't see the battery drawing any current. There might be an open 1 ohm or less resistor (which sends current to the chip), an open trace, open mosfet or broken wire. There are many things to check and it should be done by a PC technician. If you aren't experienced in hot air soldering/desoldering then don't work on surface mount devices yourself and void your warranty. Send it back or to the factory. Look for the switch in the area where the cover has the pinhole. The switch opens the power from the battery and is what MaClane is trying to show you. With the cover off you should be able to press the button and feel it click open and closed. Check both sides of it for voltage with your meter.
