hi I want help regarding upgrading my 315-51_z . The back cover has no special doors for hdd or ram.

i want to know,

1. M2 ssd supports or not?
2. 4gb ram is already there. Can I add 8gb with it. 4+8 12gb total?
3. If m2 slot is vacant, can I add ssd there and also use 1tb came with it at same time? 2 hdds in one machine?

also,
specs says it’s 2333 MHz or something when I look through the went I can see ddr3  1600 MHz I bought it from Flipkart and is under warranty am I got cheated?

    Hi,
1.Yes, you have a M.2 slot(E is the m.2 SSD in the second snip) available, you can use M.2 SSD as a boot drive and use the HDD for storage.
    2. Yes, you can upgrade the memory by adding another 8GB to make the total memory of 12GB.
Your back cover should have a RAM door and HDD door, like in my snip, please confirm that your model name is A315-51.

    Hi,
Your model looks different, so it could be a different model which was released in your region, you may have to open the back cover to see whether it has M.2 SSD slot but make sure that opening the back cover doesn't void the warranty, please check with Acer Support centre in India.

well i too was searching for the specific topic nd found this post
actually i opened my back cover to check for an M.2 ssd slot nd i found it but now i am not sure that the slot support an M.2 SATA SSD or an M.2 nvme ssd i am confused in this thing and another one is the upgrade of ram where there is an already a 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz will it be ok if i add up an additional 4GB of different speed like 3200Mhz or something greater than 160MHZ

v_e_n_k_i_i_Yes, it seems that you have an earlier mainboard with 4GB DDR3 1600MHz. In this configuration, the replaceable RAM sockets should be a 204-pin DDR3 laptop RAM. DDR4 laptop modules won't fit in a DDR3 socket. I think you had better double-check the number and type of replaceable RAM sockets that you have inside since this particular mainboard sometimes came with two replaceable sockets filled with two 2GB DDR3 modules. Accordingly, a maximum of 16GB RAM is possible with two 8GB DDR3 modules. The speed should preferrably be 2133MHz or greater for maximum benefit.

Yes, the m.2 PCIe is single lane so a SATA3 card would probably be more practical than an nvme card of similar capacity.

PS: Yes, that seems like a DDR3L low voltage laptop memory with two replaceable sockets. So you can add an 8GB for 12GB total or replace the 4GB with another 8GB for 16GB total.

This product with the trailing Z notation seems to only have been available in India. It has an older W94-W95BU 2-replaceable RAM sockets DDR3 mainboard that is also used in some Lenovo machines as far as I can tell. https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/567657/what-type-of-m-2-ssd-can-i-install-on-my-aspire-315-51-z-laptop
