power cord connection

My issue is that the power cord connection port will not connect on the inside with the battery. The light does not come on. It fits inside the port, but it does not connect inside to charge. Is there a way around this? I did try to purchase a compatible power cord pack, and that didn't work. So I know it is not the power cord, but inside the computer itself. For awhile if I pushed really hard or would stand the computer on it's side, it would charge, but now nothing. And of course the computer is now just one month out of warranty. Any suggestions? Is there a different way to charge the battery?
Thanks

    Hello,
    1. Which model do you own exactly?
    2. Could you give me the first ten characters of the laptop serial number (S/N)?
