Can anyone help me with a few Triton 500 upgrade questions?

I’m looking to pick up a triton 500 with the new 9th gen i-7 9750h cpu and rtx 2080 gpu, 32gb ram and 512gb m.2 (model found in 🇸🇬 store). I would like to add a 2TB samsung 970 evo in the empty m.2 slot, and found a video detailing the disassembly and it looks do-able. I need to figure out if the 2tb 970 evo is compatible with the WD 512 installed out of the gate, and I’ve been unable to find proper procedures for reinstalling the protective sheet over the bottom of the motherboard (appeared to be an adhesive) and the sticky pulltab from the connector by the gpu fans. If anyone has experience in upgrading the Triton 500, I would appreciate the input.

You might want to think twice or thrice about this particular laptop as it's pretty jam packed inside. Yes, it's do-able but the disassembly process is quite involved in order to add the 970 as shown in the flowchart below. The mainboard must essentially be removed. Jack E/NJ

I’m experienced enough to follow the procedure, I just need the questions above about the motherboard protector reapplication answered.

I just bought this model and I'm having the same question. Did you succeed to add the additional SSD and re-applying the protector?

Auburn_Fox you can upgrade the ssd or the ram but as @JackE stated this mobo it was manufactured to work backwards or turned over upside down as you prefer so its harder to upgrade as you have to completely disassemble everything but its perfectly doable for any experienced user and not sure if you would be able to apply the protector might not fit

I know and I saw the video about disassembling. I'm interested in experiences in assembling it again, in particular, the protective cloth.

So, just for anyone else who is looking for it:
- I just added a second NVME SSD - Make sure you have a little screw at hand to fix the second NVMe
- Also upgraded to 32GB memory
- I had not to remove the protective cloth. Just a small part in order to detach the display cable
- compared to the video there a few things different. Most important: the memory was covered by some kind of metal plate

Overall: the upgrade is doable but you have to be brave. The most tricky part is actually to remove and re-attach those very fine ribbon cables, e.g. for the display. For this make sure you have the right tools like this opening tool from the video and also the tweezer

Yup definitely always be careful and glad it worked out great without issues it can be tricky sometimes

Nice! I'm thinking of adding a Samsung 970 Evo 1tb to my 2060 edition with a 512gb ssd. Is there still an empty m.2 slot on the motherboard of the 2060 edition?

Your model PT515-51 2060gpu has two m.2 sockets just like everybody else with other GPUs. And not any easier to get to than everybody else. Jack E/NJ

So the screw was not there on the empty slot? I just bought a second ssd but to my surprise samsung did not gave the screw with the ssd so immediately I was worried that after the tedious disassembly I could have no screw to fix the ssd. Thank you very much for this useful post. I need to find somewhere such screw first :-(

Shown below is the metric screw size you need. The cheapest and easiest way to get the screws is to simply google 'laptop screw kit' which contain these screws plus many others that come in handy. Less than €10 for the assortment. Jack E/NJ
