I just purchased a D17E5 N50-600 (Nitro 50) with Windows 10 Home, 12gb memory, 250gb SSD. Using START/POWER/SHUTDOWN or RESTART the computer freezes and requires manually holding the POWER button down to turn off. The only answer I saw on COMMUNITY was in Spanish in response to a question in English.

Open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in the left pane. Click 'change settings that aren't currently available'. Scroll down and uncheck the box for fast startup to disable fast boot. Jack E/NJ

I never would have thought about doing what you suggested as the screen froze with RESTART and circle icon static. Thank you very much for the prompt response. I run backups starting at 1:00 AM and had the option to turn off the computer after execution of the program. If I happened to wake up after the system froze, I could hold the POWER button down until shut off.
