Okay so this happened after I got my laptop's power jack repaired.(My laptop is out of warranty) The touchpad doesn't work when I set it to advanced mode in BIOS, it only works when I set it to basic mode. I can't use gestures, scrolling etc. I am using Windows 10 atm. The cursor disappears when I boot into windows with touchpad set to advanced mode in BIOS, and it doesn't work when I press FN + F7(Touchpad toggle key combo) either.
Here are the the things I have tried but they are to no avail:
-Installed I/O driver
-Installed drivers from ACER website, tried both ELAN and Synaptics

-Reinstalled Windows 10
-Reinstalled all drivers
-Switched touchpad to and from BASIC and ADVANCED in BIOS
-Even let the windows handle the drivers
-Used a 3rd party driverpack
But nothing seems to be helping so far, what I would like to know is that, is it a hardware issue? is it a BIOS issue? Do I need to upgragde/downgrade BIOS to fix it? strangely enough there is another thread active with exactly same issue as mine which makes me believe it is not a hardware issue, I opened the laptop and checked that the touchpad wire seems to be placed correctly. But I can't get my head around the problem.
I would appreciate insights on this issue. Would post screenshots as needed, thanks.

Update: Dual booted Manjaro Linux, and the two-finger scroll and two-finger context menu are working even on Basic mode. The touchpad doesn't work in Advanced mode on Linux either
