Acer Aspire 3 A315-41-R8TH, tested 1.09, 1.11 and 1.13 BIOS.
Hi, i bought this laptop this week and after playing around to get ubuntu to start without soft-locking and get it to recognize the touchpad i noticed the 1.6Ghz if unplugged thing so i was asking myself;
is there any chances that in the near future a bios upgrade will give the user an option to allow clock boost even on battery (instead of removing options like the advanced mode for the touchpad that could cause problems while installing another OS)?

Even tho this is a cheap model and an energy efficient one i still believe that this small 2200U can do better without compromising the user experience, running at 1.6Ghz while the base clock is 2.5Ghz is embarrassing and good reason to return the item.

    No. I know of no ACER laptops that will run at max sustained CPU boost without charger being plugged in. So return it for a refund ASAP before the vendor's RMA period expires. Jack E/NJ
