Trying this again as my first inquiry had great success!

I have this chromebook which is out of warranty and only runs when plugged in.  The battery icon is not visible on the taskbar and from crosh a battery_test indicates no battery found.

I have replaced the battery with a fresh one and checked all mainboard connections.

I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do before writing this one off?

Thanks again,

Pete

What does a powerwash reset do for you? Jack E/NJ

Unfortunately not much Jack.  Did one and am in the same boat - blinking orange LED and no battery awareness.

    >>>only runs when plugged in.>>>

If it runs OK with the battery completely unplugged from the mainboard, then its mainboard connector solder connections are a prime suspect. Since I don't see a cover interlock on this model, I think it can be turned on while plugged in with the cover off. Then a jiggle/manipulation test would be possible on this connector to see if the blinking orange charge LED can be made to stop blinking at least temporarily. If the test is successful, then a solder reflow would likely resolve the issue. Jack E/NJ
