So, anyone with the above model has flashed BIOS 1.22? What are your views about it on your keyboard lighting and other things? I haven't flashed yet.

Well, keyboard light turns off after 30s after reboot. I am happy with it but those who don't want this feature, don't flash this BIOS. Acer will release a new BIOS version later on, most probably v1.25.

I'm glad they still are looking, so much I won't even ask how you know that. Anyway, it would be interesting if they updated the drivers on support page too.
Nothing peaks at the same time...

  • The an515-51, g3-571, g3-572, g3-573, and ph317-51 models only turn the backlit keyboard off every thirty seconds when the notebook is being used on the battery! Other models like the an515-52 and an515-53, had the backlit keyboard feature added in the bios, because the backlit keyboard was being turned off every thirty seconds when the notebook was plugged into the power adapter!
Version 1.22 only fixes something related to the ID of the second hdd!

You are right but with every model's v1.22 update, this backlight keyboard option was enabled by default but hidden from users in BIOS. Now that others have received v1.25 which allowed users to have their choice, Acer will surely roll out that for G3-572.

Yup, but as Acer posted in driver updates page, Windows 10 provides new drivers now. So, if you think you have some old driver, try updating them using Device manager and updating it through there online.

  • @XDXDThe an515-51, g3-571, g3-572, g3-573 and ph317-51 models have the same motherboard and the same firmware as UEFI. However, these models do not have the same motherboard as the uefi firmware of the an515-52, an515-53 and ph315-51 models, as they have the amd chipset!

So this bios too messed up my password. I hope Acer releases a BIOS that erases BIOS passwords instead of jumbling them up.
So headsup guys... if you have BIOS passwords set, disable them before you update BIOS.

I understand that completely, but what I am trying to say is that Acer Nitro series notebooks had this option turned on by default in v1.22 so I hoped adve did something in this regard for Predator owners as well. Moreover, I am getting higher intensity shocks after the latest BIOS flash. So Acer should really do something.

I am not experiencing 30s backlight timeout today while plugged in. But that happened yesterday after 2nd boot from BIOS flash. Moreover, even the shocks are null now while sitting on the bed. Don't know what's happening =) .

  • @XDXDStrange this problem! I own the an515-51 model with bios 1.22 and the backlit keyboard works normally when the notebook is plugged into the power adapter!

It is not your problem - somewhere between 1.19 and latest... the BIOS update killed the password and is pretty much irrecoverable. Insyde H20 switched from 8 digit code to 10 digit and this transition seems like locked up bioses of people who had that password set.

Also, if you are on 1.21, stay there. Updating to 1.22 increased my temperatures.

Am on 1.22 and haven't noticed increased temperatures. Maybe 30°C is the reason here.

Mine went from 65-70, spikes to 75 to 70-75, spikes to 80+ on CPU. So well... or maybe my laptop is misbehaving.

42x. But that shouldn't matter much here given that nothing in my system changed except for BIOS.
