Your motherboard will support GTX 1060, but bear in mind that GTX 1060 requires external power from the PSU, which might not have it.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

also, will I need to buy another PSU or is the power enough.
bear in mind that I upgraded my ram to 16 GB.

How much is the wattage of the PSU. You have to change it if it doesn't have spare 6pin or 8pin connector for the 1060. The recommended PSU wattage by nvidia is 400W, but depending on the CPU even 300W or lower will work.

I put a 1070 in mine and had no issues, plenty of power.
