Hoping for some help please. My keyboard is no longer working. Initially my problem was with the keys that contained the FN functionality (where j k l etc are) , so I tried to tinker with the settings to resolve that, but it's now resulted in no keys working! Tried finding a resolution via searches, but that's what has led me into more trouble with the keyboard! Not sure what to do.

What is full ACER spin 1 model SP11x-xx or CP1xx-xx? Lots of different spin 1s. Jack E/NJ

Those are the NumberLock keys. What was their issue? They didn't produce numbers with the NumLk key toggled on? Since the keyboard usually doesn't have many settings to tinker with, which settings are you referring to? Jack E/NJ

Thanks..i know what those keys are, but they aren't working at all when I press them. Initially, the numbers (or the characters in blue) were appearing instead of the desired letter and pressing the FN key didn't change that, so I played with the settings and now those keys don't work at all.

Yes, but what settings are you referring to? Are these settings in Device Manager? In Control Panel? In the SystemSettings app in the Windows icon start menu? Jack E/NJ

In all of those places. Actually I don't recall going to the SystemSettings app.

Hi, I see that you are unable to use your Keyboard keys. Don't worry. Kindly do battery reset to release the unwanted static energy stored in your computer by following the below steps.
    1) Unplug AC power adapter.
    2) Locate the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the computer.
    3) Insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole. Hold the reset button for 30 to 40  seconds.
    4) Connect the AC adapter and power on the system.

If this doesn't resolve, try to uninstall and reinstall the Keyboard Drivers in Device Manager.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have looked all over my laptop and cannot locate the battery pin reset...
Have tried to uninstall the keyboard via device manager, and it doesn't seem to want to uninstall.
    So I'm at square one.

    Thanks again for trying.

Open Device Manager again. Click on the Keyboard folder. Uninstall the standard PS/2 KB. Exit Device Manager without re-installing anything. Shutdown. Then turn the machine back on and let Windows auto detect and re-install the KB driver. Jack E/NJ

Thanks Jack. I tried that, but those keys are still not working once I reinstalled it.. Think I might have to resort to a Bluetooth keyboard .. #frustrating

Sounds like the KB connector needs to be re-seated on the mainboard. You'd have to remove 10 screws and pry off the bottom case. Then disconnect and remove 2 screws from the battery to access the connector. Jack E/NJ

Wow... Seems like a drastic course of action for a laptop I've only had for a few months... Your instructions are quite clear, but I'm nervous to pursue it, in case further damage is done to it. Quite disappointing that this is the avenue I need to take.

    But thanks for your advice.

I’m dealing with the same problem. Took the laptop from Windows 10-S to Windows 10 Home, and right after the keyboard was stuck in function mode. Haven’t been able to get the keyboard to function correctly since then.

Yes, and immediately after I did that the keyboard stopped functioning normally.

Describe what you mean by 'function mode'. Do you mean the numlock is stuck so that jkl is 123? Jack E/NJ

Yes, that’s exactly what has happened. JKL is 123.

Just in case it's something simple, try pressing the FN+F11 key combo again. Jack E/NJ

I gave that a try again, but it didn’t fix the problem.

How about just F11 without the FN? If that doesn't work, then you might try the chipset driver update https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7702?b=1 just in case an older version is installed. Jack E/NJ
