Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-53V6 to be exact. I have a TN panel which is washed out. I was thinking of upgrading to an IPS panel (B156HAN06.1) but I was wondering if it is worth it? I know the viewing angels and color will improve, but will the clarity improve?

I have also seen many people talking about upgrading to a 120hz LCD panel with 100% color accuracy (N156HHE-GA1) but I am not sure if that panel will fit my laptop. Will the N156HHE-GA1 panel fit the Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G?

Thank you.

I can't say for sure if that screen will fit your exact model. Someone here may be able to verify, because there have been some screen upgrades.

For the initial question though; if you are spending under $100 I think it is a worthwhile upgrade. The factory (60Hz) IPS screen on my Nitro 5 is great! Compared to my buddies HP Omen 15 it is A LOT brighter as well. It may not be the best IPS panel out there, but it compares well to even higher priced laptops. I would at least get a factory IPS panel, and if you can verify the 120Hz model fits I'd spend a bit more to get that option.

I believe the main determining factors are overall panel size, mounting tabs, and connector type. If those match it should work.

    tobimaru and Kev0806,

I know the IPS panel B156HAN06.1 will fit my laptop. What I want to know is, is it worth the upgrade? It is only $50 more to upgrade, but I do not know if the IPS panel will be brighter and more clear. I want to hear back from someone who has first hand expierence with changing out the ACER Aspire 5 screen.

Is there anyone in here who has replaced their acer aspire 5 from a TN panel to an ISP panel? If so, was it worth it? Were the colors more vibrant? Was the screen brighter? Was there more clarity? I feel the TN panel is not as clear. The text and colors wash away easy. Also, the dynamic range is not there. I want to know if it has a higher sRGB value?

    Thank you.
