My model is an Acer Aspire X1900 64bit system, sticker on the side says EL1850-UR11P not sure if thats helpful.

Upgraded win7 to win10

Upgraded cpu from Celeron 450 (1 core) to Core 2 Qaud Q9300 (4 cores)

Gpu- MSI R7 240 2gb

I wanted to upgrade from 2gb of ram to 8gb, 8gb gave me same issue but I assumed after further reading that it was over max ram capability for the mobo. So I returned and purchased 2x 2gb sticks for 4gbs of ddr3 ram. Ram install went fine both clicked into place no struggle.
I removed two Kingston 1gb sticks of ddr3 udimms, I then installed 2 2gb sticks of ddr3 udimms.
Powered PC on and instant long beep and no boot
I've tried re-seating, using just one stick and no change, PC works fine with old ram still.
I wonder if the bios needs updated before it will accept new ram? I found a bios update file but I do not understand how to update bios with this system.

Help would be appreciated. (Typed all of this on PC in question :) )

What specifically were the specs on the memory you purchased? DDR3 has lots of different speeds and configurations...

Crucial says DDR3 PC3-12800 and it looks like I don't have a better reference than that any longer. I would have thought the slower memory you got would have worked.

Whats odd is the memory I purchased is the same speed as whats in the pc now. Doesnt makes sense I feel like its a bios issue. But Im not sure how to safely update it. Literally no information about this bios and how to use it. its fairly simple looking but I think im limited to what this mobo can do.

So I found the memory specs from Acer:
    Memory
    • Two DIMM slots supporting 240-pin unbuffered DDR3 SDRAM modules
    • Data rate supported: 800/1066/1333 MT/s
    • Maximum memory: 4 GB (using two 2 GB modules
So nothing really new there. Does it work with only one module?

It has two 1gb sticks in it currently. and yes it can use just 1 of the 1gb sticks but the two 2gb sticks do not work in it at all I've reseated and tried it 5x

Ive tried gskill and nemix ram but not cruical I cant return the nemix ram, theyve forced me to pay for return shipping so no money coming back to me. so at this point ive lost money trying to upgrade the ram. Makes no sense why it wont take it.

I don't think I can help any further, it sure sounds like you got some dead memory because the specs seem right. :(
