I have 8gb of ram total and was wondering if it is possible to switch out the 4gb that it came with so I can have up to 32gb without having one slot wasted on the 4gb it comes with?

    Hello,
    1. Which model do you own exactly? Full model name?
    2. What do you want to do? Your message is not clear :).

As I understand you want to trash the 4gb that came with it and install 2 new memory cards, the answer is absolutely yes. If you purchase Crucial memory from Amazon they have a handy tool to make sure its the right one for your model. The screenshot below illustrates but I'm not suggesting that particular memory is good for your model. I upgraded mine this way and it worked perfectly

Although I do not know your model number the memory above seems to be compatible with most Nitro 5's so start from there
