Need a clear instruction on clean install of Acer Iconia W510

Hi all,

I want to do a clean install win 8 on the W510 (to remove bloatware, gain some free space and install latest drivers).

However i got some conflicting advices from here or other forums. Some say that we can do the clean install using Windows 8 Pro Pack (blue box) that only contains licence code. Some say we need the Windows 8 Pro upgrade (black box) which i thought it is supposed to upgrade from previous OS (not from windows 8)?

some say they didn't even need to enter the product key? how do we activate win 8/win 8 pro?

Could anyone who has successfully done the clean install of Win 8 or win 8 pro on W510 share their steps? I dont really need to install win 8 pro. win 8 standard or OEM or whatever it is called is enough. but if there is no other way but to buy win 8 pro than that is also fine.

thanks

Did your tablet come with recovery cd's?

If so just install the operating system and not the additional driver / bloatware cd.

If it is a recovery partition you will need to install Windows 8 from cd and kill the recovery partition to regain Hard Drive space.

When you install Windows 8 it installs with a default / trial key cd key that you will need to change within 3 days and activate.

how can i get the recovery cds?

Also how can i get the product key? i read somewhere that the product key is embbeded in the BIOS?

You can get the recovery cd's from Acer, but they will probably charge you for them.

Some systems come with a create recovery media program, have a look for it.

If it is Acer OEM, you don't need the cd key, it auto detects and inserts the key for you.
