3rd Hard Drive, the removable one, no longer recognized

For some reason, the 3rd drive -- the removable hard drive, which slips into what I think is sometimes called the storage controller -- is no longer being recognized. Anyone have an idea what I can do about this? The machine is a Predator G3-710 with an Intel i7-6700 (3.4 GHz). This is actually the second one I've had, because the first one had this same problem and was replaced by Acer. In the intervening two years, the drive has worked just fine. Now, it's as though it doesn't exist. Is this a common problem?
Thanks.

I haven't heard of the problem here, but it's possible there is something amiss with the connections for that drive. Double check to verify the connections between that drive bay and the motherboard are solid, check also between it and the power. Then check that the drive is seated fully in the hot swap bay.
