Predator Helios 500. High pitch fan sound - PH517-51-752D

Hello everyone,

Recently I've bought an Acer Predator Helios 500 laptop Nvidia/Intel model. So far I'm very pleased with my purchase. There is one thing that really bothers me. There is a high pitched sound when fans start to spin. Like a whistle. It's not very loud bit it can be heard. The faster fans spin the higher/louder the sound. There is a normal sound of air being pushed out of the laptop and there is that high pitched sound, like a little, quiet turbocharger. Well, I can't describe it any better

. Is it normal or should I ask for a replacement?

Hello! Could you tell the exact model of your notebook? Example an515-51-75kz! Also, could you record an audio with this sound?

Is this sound only heard when fans are at full speed? Have you tried turning off coolboost or aeroblade3d, to verify the problem persists?

Usually laptop fans produce this kind of noise. The sound pitch should increase as the fan speed increases.

No. It's also heard in idle (very silent tho) and yes the sound increases with the fans speed. I tried every single fan mode to try all possibilities. My old laptop also does that but it's 4 years old and didn't make this kind of sound when it was new.
Now I can even hear silent buzzing noise.

I did not see any signs of fan problems! As my colleague ven98 said, in today's notebooks gamers, because they have a better cooling system, it is possible that the noise of fan rotation is higher! I own the model an515-51 which also makes quite a loud noise when the fan increases the rotation!

Is the noise Your laptop make high pitched like whistling or is it just an air blowing out of the laptop? Can You hear it at low rpm? I'm sorry for asking so much but today is the last day for me to return it with no question asked.

Like I told you before, I did not check any problems with the fan! However, you can verify that the same noise occurs on an identical model in the store you bought!
