How do I restore my laptop to it's factory state?

    Turn the machine completely off. Then turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. A recovery screen should appear as in the video below to either reset the machine to a factory fresh state or refresh it while trying to save your personal files. Jack E/NJ

    i have a question, i recently went to a technician to reformat my Acer aspire r14 and it was just done for general reformatting of laptops. I want it back to the default settings but i dont have the CD etc. pls help

    PBCJANEIf the hidden recovery partition wasn't re-formatted, you should be able to reset it by the ALT+F10 cold boot method mentioned above. https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/664021/#Comment_664021   Works for most Windows versions. If it doesn't work, then you can go to this link to make an installation USB stick of the generic Windows version http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery that came on your laptop but you will probably have to download and install ACER drivers from the ACER driver download sites for devices that may not work properly with generic drivers.     You can contact Acer in your region and ask them how to obtain original factory recovery media for your laptop.
