Hi,

After few hours, I have successful installed Ubuntu (I have to switch in the boot menu between AHCI and RST with Optane to load Windows 10, but OK).
Now I have the login panel, but after I enter my password, I have nothing, unless the mouse cursor that I can move but nothing more.

I tried to add "nomodset" in the in the boot option, but nothing more.
Secure boot is Disabled.
Supervisor password is set.

Any others suggestions ? ... Nvidia drivers issue ? (like I have read.. maybe..)

Thanks a lot !

    Good Morning galacticsurfeur !

Can you access the Ubuntu system?
What graphical interface are you using? Unity? Gnome? KDE?
Do you have access to the TTY?
Have you already upgraded your system with sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade?
Already updated the drivers (mainly the owners of Nvidia)?

    Thanks for your answer !

I only have the login screen, so I don't know if I can access to the Ubuntu system except for that..
For the graphical interface, I don't know. I installed the latest version of Ubuntu 18.04.2 for the first time.
TTY.. maybe ? If I can run it from the Login screen.
No update yet. It's the first time I install Ubuntu. I just bought the laptop yesterday. All is brand new.
No update for the drivers yet too. During the installation, I checked "third-party software for graphics and Wi-Fi Hardware and additional media formats".

    Try the following solutions:

    Solution 1:
First, open terminal by CTRL + ALT + F1

    sudo dpkg --configure -a
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade -y
    sudo reboot

Solution 2: If the above does not work, try this
First, open terminal by CTRL + ALT + F1

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop
    sudo apt-get install unity
    sudo shutdown -r now

Solution 3: If none of the above work for you, try this:
If none works for you, upgrade to a new release

First, open terminal by CTRL + ALT + F1
    sudo do-release-upgrade

Hum... this morning, It freezes at the password prompt and I can't have the terminal with CTRL + ALT + F1, even at the login box.

    BUT

I tried to boot in recovery mode and then "normal boot" and I could enter my password and now I'm on the desktop. I can open the Terminal too.
I'm running updates with your Option 1.. in progress..

After all the updates installed and a reboot, if I choose Ubuntu in the GNU GRUB menu, I have the same thing than before. I can enter my password but nothing after that except that the mouse can move. I can't open the terminal with CTRL + ALT + F1.

I tried in the Advanced options :
4.18.0-16-generic : nothing after password box, except the mouse
4.18.0-16-generic (recovery mode) : works, if I choose "resume; resume normal boot" in the menu
4.18.0-15-generic : nothing after password box, except the mouse
4.18.0-15-generic (recovery mode) : works, if I choose "resume; resume normal boot" in the menu

    If it can helps...

Edit : I made the last update and now I have a new version 4.18.0-17-generic, but same things than above with the other versions. Works only in Recovery mode.
