My Acer predator helios 300 gets a big FPS drop when connecting it to a monitor.

When i plugg in my acer predator helios 300 into a 240hz monitor brand new thru hdmi 1 I get a high FPS drop. This happens in all of my games, even in CSGO. I've read different post on how to fix this issue but nothing works, the things i've tryed:
- Enable geforce experimental features and restarting my pc twice
- Dont have the lid open while playing/having the lid mirroring/having it open but turnd off
- Playing on the same res on the monitor and the laptop
- Closing everything in the backround
And i think the computer should be able to run games without lag with a monitor on almoste everygame, because it was pretty expensive and its pretty high spec. And as soon i unplugg my monitor and only playing on the laptop screen the lag is gone, and when i plugg the monitor back in it starts lagging again..

Well i do have this monitor
ASUS XG27VQ

27.0" 1920 × 1080 VA monitor (FreeSync over DP and HDMI)
Maximum 144 Hz over HDMI
-------------------------------------------------------
ASUS XG258Q

24.5" 1920 × 1080 TN monitor (FreeSync over DP and HDMI)
Maximum 240 Hz over HDMI
And it still lags. Any other solutions?

Specs always seem hazy on if or when the HDMI port uses the integrated adapter or the discrete adapter. With few exceptions, the maximum refresh rate at most resolutions is listed as 60Hz. Thus I suspect that 60Hz is sort of a guaranteed minimum rate if or when the integrated adapter is used. Anything higher than 60Hz suggests that the discrete adapter is being used. What governs whether one or the other is used for HDMI output doesn't seem to be well documented. The fact that different monitors seem to get different results suggests a hardware handshake between the monitor and the laptop determines the adapter and thus the rate used. Jack E/NJ

okay, so there is no other ways around this problem without buying a new computer?

I think as indicated in colleague MaClane's link, https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/541521/helios-confirmed-240hz-hdmi/p1, the fact that some monitors do, and some monitors don't, seem to work at higher rates suggests the most practical solution might well be in using one of the compatible monitors that were found. But i Do have one of the monitors on the loist and i run it with the native res 1920x1080

I am having the exact same problem with my Predator 300, i just bought a 144hz ViewSonic monitor (on the list of HDMI compatible monitors) and i keep getting large FPS drops which make games literally unplayable. I have tried every solution i could find and nothing has worked yet. Please help.

Have you tried to change the display properties via Windows or Nvidia?

Show me screen shots of the values you've set once connected to the monitor.

For example on my LG gaming monitor I had to navigate here to get the HZ increase to show.
