So for the last few weeks my laptop screen has been black and nothing shows up on screen. Like nothing. Yes it works on external monitors. I am connected to a tv and writing this.
FOr a few weeks the display was completely black, it does turn on but there is no color, just black or gray. A few days ago the screen came back to life for a few mins before it went dead again. Now I cant seem to understand what this issue is, and uninstalling the graphic drivers is a nightmare because then the  laptop wonnt even connect to hdmi. Does anyone know whats causing this, Idk what the problem is and I dont think the screen is bad either.

@AAAZZAAAMM have you tried battery drain pinhole (disconnect from the external monitor press the reset/drain switch for 30/40s let it rest for 20/30 mnts)  after the battery reset see if u have image back in the screen load bios setup defaults after if still the same it might be the display cable loose/detached somehow either on the mobo side or the panel side or worst case might be the screen panel itself that died in this case if youre still on warranty (VERY IMPORTANT always check with your seller/shop or acer support before you open anything if youre allowed to and have any warranty seals as this voids it straight away) send it for a repair/replacement

I tried battery reset it didnt work. I would agree the screen is dead if the screen didnt turn on or if i didnt work like it did a few days ago.  i doubt lose cables

So if you suspect the screen is dead or you will void the warranty by disassembling it send it to warranty right away while/if u still can

Agreed. If there is no warranty and you can't send it off for repair you can certainly replace the screen yourself.

I'm curious why you doubt the cables are loose? I've seen this cause screen problem about 50% of the time. Especially when you mentioned the screen came back on temporarily, then disconnected again. Sounds like a loose cable to me...

I doubt it because if it was a loose cable then there would be other issues, and the screen was working fine and then suddenly went dead. After a few weeks the screen worked again for a few mins. So i doubt the cables are loose.

I actually went to a shop and tried a brand new panel, even the new panel didnt work, so no screen is not dead. I just cant figure out what else could be wrong

And do you have a chance of opening the laptop? For loose cables.

I have an idea but I dont accept any responsibilities. Open device manager and uninstall the built-in monitor. And reboot. Do it in your *risk*
