My AOD150-0BK won't boot properly

The laptop died last night so I recharged it, nothing was installed. I cannot start up without the following error message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this..."

Rebooting options get stuck. It doesn't have a CD-rom so I can't place a recovery disk in it. I tried the following without success:
1. Removed battery and booted on AC power
2. Booted on battery and AC power
3. Tapped F8 to access the Advanced Boot Options menu, selected every option but couldn't get past the Windows XP loading screen or it froze after selection
4. Went to the product support page (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/1080?b=1), downloaded Windows XP 32-bit BIOS (2012/11/15 version 1.09), renamed the BIOS file from KAV10.fd to ZGIA32.fd, copied that and FLASHIT.exe to a USB flash drive, inserted it, held down Fn and Esc keys and prseed the power button, released and pressed them again, then a loud beep sounded, then back to the error message with boot options. I then tried starting normally but couldn't get past the loading screen.

Would appreciate any assistance!
