W700 digitizer with small gestures

Although the stylus that came with my W700P is very accurate for selecting items on the screen, I find that it does not work well for writing in Windows Journal or Paint.  (The same is true of a cheap broad-point capacitive stylus I have.)  The problem is that the digitizer software tends to smooth out small motions.  For example, if I write a lowercase "e", unless I make it quite large, the loop in the "e" tends to be either tiny or missing altogether.

I'm thinking this must be an intentional Windows 8 choice in order to support fingers instead of pens -- otherwise, why would the lines for the handwriting panel in the software keyboard be so far apart? -- but it's pretty annoying.  Does anyone know if there's a configuration parameter that can be changed to control this behavior?

Bumping this because I posted this question in the forum at answers.microsoft.com and the Microsoft employee who ansered suggested that it was an Acer problem, not a Windows problem.  Do other people using a capacitive stylus with the W700 have the same experience of losing small features in what they write/draw?  Anyone have any experience with a capacitive stylus on a different Windows 8 computer?

The Dagi stylus that came with my W700P writes fine on a HP 23" all in one touch screen running windows 7.  I sure wish it would write on the Acer tablet.  I noticed that my control panel for pen and touch has only one tab and that is Touch.  Is the pen tab missing or is that normal in Win 8 ?

I would guess that it is normal for Windows 8 on a system like the W700, with only a capacitive touchscreen and not an active digitizer.

Anyone with a W700P that can write with finger as well as the stylus please reply what you see in the pen and touch panel. You can get there from a search on pen.  There may be one, two or more tabs on this control panel. thanks
