    Good Morning Tompa1952 !

Are you running in live mode?
If so, the error is due to the HD not being mounted on the right partition and the lock file is blocking the access.

Mount or reassemble the drive partition and delete the lock file.
    After that reconfigure the dpkg.

I am sorry but I do not understand what you write. I am following instructions here
    https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Linux/1182453582/Installing-and-using-NordVPN-on-Linux.htm
I do not know so much technical things about Linux commands but I try this in the terminal window:
    sudo dpkg -i nordvpn.deb
it says dpkg: wrong: could not get dpkg statusarea.
