so i updated the bios from 1.19 to 1.22 and the keyboard backlight started going off after 30 secs when plugged in which is pretty annoying. Then I update it to 1.24 today and the same problem persists. is rolling back to 1.19 the only solution ?

I would not recommend you to downgrade the BIOS version as Acer is going to release a new update in March'19. With this update backlight issues should be taken care.. So wait for a little longer for the fix..

Bios version 1.24 came a few days ago and still the problem persists so what should we do now?

Acer says that this is NOT a problem but a FEATURE!!! They said it is a feature which saves battery life. And that is all well and good if you are on your battery, but most people do not play games on their battery. Thus it is NOT a feature but a royal pain in the butt. Acer just needs to update this and let the keyboard backlight stay ON!!! Conserving battery is not an issue when plugged in....

This problem can be easily resolved by changing the keyboard backlight settings from enabled to disabled in your BIOS settings.
For reaching BIOS settings simply follow the steps in the given link.

I have an ACER nitro 5, which I had bought 2 days ago and after updating my BIOS to the latest version the same problem had arisen and the keyboard backlight was going off even when connected to AC outlet. So I changed my BIOS settings and it is working fine right now.
    Hope it helps...

    Confirmed.
BIOS version 1.25 for the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 and AN515-53 now implements a BIOS setting that allows you to DISABLE the annoying keyboard backlight timeout feature. After updating, press F2 to enter your laptops BIOS during boot up, and navigate to the section labeled "MAIN". Look for the the setting "Keyboard lighting timeout" and choose the "Disabled" option then save your settings. Using the Fn-F9 keys still allows you to manually toggle the keyboard light on and off while in Windows.
Thank you for this Acer I can now use my laptop properly in dark or dimly lit rooms.
