ACER H277HK flickering with USB-C iMac 27" running OS Mojave 10.14.4

Hi,

The monitor is blinking/flickering once every 10 minutes or so in black. I have updated to the latest version of OS Mojave 10.14.4 but that didn't solve the issue. I have tried with another USB-C cable but with the same result. I imagine that I can use a USB-C to HDMI adapter and use an HDMI cable. But that defeats the whole purpose of having extra ports that I can use with my monitor. 

I've read a lot on the web and it seams that many with me are having the same issue but with no actual answer how to resolve this annoying flickering. So I'm trying here and hoping some one from the community or from Acer-support can help out. 

I purchased the display not that long ago and I don't want to return it because I like the design and resolution (when it works).

Any suggestions what to do?

My XF24OH monitor worked with my prior iMac but not with my 2019 iMac.
