Predator Helios 300 Model N17C1 shuts off immediately

My predator laptop keeps shutting off immediately on startup. The power button alone won’t turn it on. I have to press it a few times and then press multiple other keys on the keyboard. The keyboard then lights up, the predator logo flashes on the screen, and then it immediately turns off with a very audible click.

I can keep the laptop on as long as I’m constantly pressing any key on the keyboard, but once I stop pressing any keys, it shuts off in seconds.

I have tried to press a key long enough to keep the laptop on long enough to completely reset it, but once the reset gets to 2% it tells me there was a problem with resetting and shuts off.

I have tried the battery reset button. I have tried removing the power cord, holding the power button for 10-30 seconds and then plugging it back in again. Nothing I’ve tried has worked.

What is the exact model of your notebook? Example an515-51-75kz! The current notebooks have a power interrupt button like this:

OK! As your notebook power on by pushing the keyboard down a bit, I suspect that this button is not being pressed properly:

You can solve this by pressing the screw next to the button a little more, or by placing a few layers of electrical tape to press the button:

So I applied a few layers of electrical tape to the button, but it hasn’t fixed the problem.

Any other ideas?

Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.64
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check cable

OK! Enter the bios and make sure the boot mode is in uefi and if the windows boot manager comes first in the boot section!

Then try resetting the battery like this:

I accidentally changed the bios at one point, so it’s reset now. And the battery reset didn’t work.

I’m sure the button is being pressed. There’s a prominent indent in the electrical tape I used.

How do I check to bios version?

In the bios information section, show the bios version! Have you added any hardware recently? Is your notebook still under warranty? Does this problem occur only on the battery or when it is connected to the power adapter?

I’ll check the bios version once I get back home tonight. I haven’t added any hardware recently and I’m not sure if it’s still under warranty. The problem occurs when it is connected to the power adapter as well.

@Jakoy that message states you pressed the bootmenu shortcut and the selected network/lan boot that option will never work disconnect from ac try a battery power drain reset by pressing the battery pinhole (by the ram cover) for 30s or more then let it sit for 20mnts or more try to boot into bios and reset setup defaults see if it fixed it if not if u still have a black screen i suggest contact acer support for a possible repair/replacement

The black screen is fixed. However, the issue still persist that the laptop will not remain powered on unless a key is constantly being pressed down.

Unfortunately that didn’t work.
I’m finding that the power button does absolutely nothing. Pressing it won’t turn on the laptop, but when I press literally any other key, the laptop powers on before shutting down again unless a key is being pressed. It’s like it keeps going into sleep mode. Don’t know if that’s anything significant.
