Hi,

I have attached a screen shot of my laptops hardware, more specifically the PCIE GEN 3.0 port I think.

I would like to know if I installed an 2280 m.2 pcie 3.0 ssd would it still run son 2x lanes or 4x? I'am a bit confused as from the pic, it states 1x. Some help please.

    Hello,
The port #14 is not the right one: Card reader and Lan:

    PCIe 3.0 X4 is the port #9-#12:
I think the port #9-12 is "hidden" because you already have a SATA SSD installed (same socket):

Don't worry, this series supports PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 SSD . Some models were shipped with Intel 600p SSD.

Hello, just wanted to update I have now installed the Samsung 970 EVO 250gb 3.0x4 PCIe NVMe, it is all running OK with Windows freshly installed.

Can also confirm it seems to be running x4 lanes, used the samsung magician software and it cobfirms the 3400/1500 read and wire speeds.

ASSD crystal mark seems to read at 2600 and write and 1450.

Not sure why that is, but it is faster than the sata SSD m. 2 that was installed.

    THANKS AGAIN 😊

A picture for 1000 words! It runs on 4 lanes.
