I recently got A315-31-C59B laptop and I would like to upgrade its memory with SSD so I could speed up windows booting and stuff. I noticed on the forum that A315 does have free space on the motherboard for M.2 expansion https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/558634/m-2-expand-slot-on-acer-a315-31-nx-gntex-086
but my slot looks slightly different so I'm not shure should I use M.2 SATA or NVMe?

The M.2 port is M key, so I think it supports NVMe. To check for sure you can use HWiNFO and after expanding the 'BUS' section look for a free PCIe express port(x1, x2 or x4).
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Ok, I used HWiNFO and I have one PCI Express port X2 free if I'm rading this correctly. But what does it means?

Yes, this means that it supports NVMe SSDs. x4 NVMe SSDs will work at half the speed.

Thank you so much for helping me. Yust one more thing. Does this means that i can only use NVMe or will it work also with with M.2 SATA. My worries were mostly due to a fact that a slot for a memory is having cut on only one side. Thanks again.
