Acer Predator Helios 300 GPU Cuts Off - Is It Supposed to Happen?
Hello, I have recently got an Acer Predator Helios 300 (Intel i5 8th Gen + NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX), and soon noticed a problem. The trouble is, I don't know whether this 'problem' should be happening - and I couldn't find any posts on any forums expressing the same problem. Anyway, when gaming the GPU obviously gets warm, and of coarse some games heat it up more than others. With the more graphically intensive games, the GPU cuts out - I can only imagine to allow for it to cool down - which makes the game unplayable for around five seconds until the GPU starts up properly again. Looking at the Predator Sense Application, the GPU reaches about 76C when running 'Forza Horizon 4', perhaps the most graphically intense game made for some time to be fair, and sits at that temperature quite happily until the GPU cuts off, the temperature lowers, and it starts again. For a short while after it does this, the charging light also flashes orange, at the same tempo as the power light on hibernate. It does this with most modern 3-D games, but fairly infrequently - with the exception of the pre-mentioned game where it happens on average about every 50 seconds. Is 76C absurdly hot for a GPU and I'm just naively over-stretching the computer's abilities or is there an issue with my computer?
Thank you.
