I normally have a wired connection running and not connected to wifi but yesterday I needed to turn on wifi to connect to a device, which all went fine. Today when I booted up, my Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 is gone. The device literally is no longer in device manager. Bluetooth still works, devices can connect and function but, wifi adapter does not exist. I don't see any settings in BIOS for turning wifi or Bluetooth on or off, just the onboard LAN.

It's still in the Windows 10 network profiles list:

MAC: 28:e3:47....
Status: Not Present

Any known issues out there or ideas as to why it suddenly might not be identified by the system?

Currently I'm just chalking it up to that it died but, I'm under the impression the wifi/Bluetooth are the same device but half of it's dead?

Yeah, I don't remember seeing one where the WiFi really went away and the Bluetooth stayed working. Look in Hidden in Device Manager to see if it shows back up, then uninstall the Bluetooth and WiFi drivers to see if the reinstall finds it again.

It was not hidden in Device Manager and removing it and letting it reinstall didn't help...because...it was using a MS driver supplied by Windows 10.  And now that I've recently been updated to Windows 10 1903 guess what, my WiFi has magically and mysteriously re-appeared and works again. 

Right after the upgrade to 1903 I got the notification "Finish installing hardware devices Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter"

And on the next reboot the WiFi adapter is back in >CP>Network and Internet>Network Connection.

The driver still says the date is 3/26/2016 ver> 3.0.2.201 but, it stopped working in 1809 and works again now in 1903 so, finally solved this one.
