Toshiba hdd in place of wd hdd

Hi,
I had some issues with my laptop's hard drive. It's still in warranty. I contacted acer online support executive. They sent someone to check and replace my laptop's hard disk. After checking, he replaced my hard disk which was also not working. There was no company label on that hard drive. Then he took out a toshiba hard drive. But the problem is that the hard drive that I had before replacement was of wd company and he replaced it with Toshiba. when I told him regarding this, he called his colleague who then told me that acer's contract with wd has ended. They no longer use wd drive. Is this correct?
