Hello there,
I have bought this Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-58EY from an authorised seller, almost 10 months ago and from the time and then i would say that i am quite disappointed from my purchase. From the first days i have seen an "overheating" effect and i have contacted the Acer of Greece, they had told me it is "normal"(like 80-95 temp), i have sent it back to the seller they checked it and said it is ok. The problem is that from the first days it would "spike for 1 second" rarely on big engagement of games where it need more than the usual cpu usage, but recently i seen an almost daily effect of lowering FPS and lag.
I have tried to update drivers from windows 10 and it was lowering the fps to 20 like there was no graphic card inside, then i reinstalled the old drivers from the Acer official driver page and it seems to work better than before, even though it stills get some spikes that is very annoying to me.
Considering the spikes and the temperature and fan sounds, i am feeling like this laptop will stop working soon and the warranty is for 2 years(so i feel scared that i will lose my 700 euros i gave for it)

What is your experience with these case?

My laptop specs are:
Win 10 Home
CPU: Inter i5 8250U 1.60 GHz 1.80GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: GeForce MX 150
And for storage i have changed to Samsung 850 Evo SSD 250 since there is a window and you do not break the warranty.

Thank you in advance.

Download HWiNFO and report the average and max temperatures on both CPU and GPU.

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

The CPU package has reached 99C, which isn't normal. During the gameplay you could have resetted the counter the counter to show the true average temperature.

You didn't take a screenshot of the GPU temperature(the GPU temperature can be found more at the bottom of the list). Make sure that 5 minutes after starting the game you reset the timer.

You can try undervolting the CPU with throttlestop(you can find many video guides on youtube). Undervolting is harmless to the CPU and reduces the heat that the CPU produces, thus lowering temperatures. You have to download a CPU stress test(AIDA64) and you reduce the voltage and chache offset while the stress test is running to ensure best stability. You beign with reducing the voltage by -100mV and then keep reducing by -5mV at a time. Keep doing so until the system freezes crashes, then restart the device and set the voltage to the last value the system was stable on

This is a printscr of my computer after 10 minutes of gameplay(i have reseted the timer), where i started playing it. When i open it it just goes 75-80* which is not normal for me either. As i mention before, this is typical from the first day i received my laptop. It looked expensive and brand acer - so i said it will be good - i have sent it back after 2 weeks to the seller and then the seller sent it to the official Greek Acer support, where they said that the laptop is "ok". They informed me that the laptop runs normally the stress tests to max of 80* and my temperatures before the return of it was 98* max (my tests i made with openhardware and intel tests). Well i said it is summer and it should be normal the high temperatures but now it is winter and it still produces the same temperature, plus it had low fps and "lags" the game. Why should i modify a laptop that is diagnosed and sold from the company as "new" and "quality product"? I am confused.
Hope someone who is responsible for the customer after sale service could help me.
    Thank you in advance.

I have the exact same problem, except, mine lags whenever i switch tabs in Google Chrome and everything freezes when the lag happens, occurs when I'm in game too. I have only gotten this laptop for only a week, and noticed it the problems on my first day of using it, just that it got worst as time passed. Laptop is Aspire 5
