i have been asked to look at an acer aspire 3 A315-31 C3XC that powers on but no display.

i have tried connecting to external monitor via HDMI (FN+F5) - no display on external monitor

the laptop may be dead, but other things i have tried

remove hard drive, cmos battery, battery
cant remove memory on this model as soldiered onto mainboard

what else can i try.

could it be an corrupt bios?

10 days outside 1 year warranty

Thanks

Possibly but rarely revived using the FN+ESC cold boot method with an MBR FAT32 stick & the Z8P.FD file in its root. Should be able to extract the FD file from one of the BIOS firmware on the ACER download site https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7209?b=1
Other than that, a mainboard solder reflow might be tried as a last resort. Jack E/NJ

checked latest bios file and no FD file, isflash.bin looks like file that should be flashed.

    BIOS_ACER_1.27_Windows
        │   Z8P_127.exe
        │
        └───Z8P_127
                BiosImageProcx64.dll
                Ding.wav
                FlsHook.exe
                FWUpdLcl.exe
                H2OFFT-Wx64.exe
                H2OFFT.cat
                H2OFFT.inf
                H2OFFT64.sys
                isflash.bin
                mfc90u.dll
                Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest
                Microsoft.VC90.MFC.manifest
                msvcp90.dll
                msvcr90.dll
                platform.ini

i was following this guide as a reference for getting the FD file to the flash drive.
