You can do that with the battery in place too. There is no need to remove battery. I have been doing this over a decade with multiple laptops, and battery wear was at about 45% after 5+ years of such use. Plus most gaming laptops pull power from battery too when power adapter cannot supply enough (only in bursts though).

So just keep battery in and power adapter plugged into socket? What power is that adapter holding?

Yes. Turn the adapter on when using laptop, and turn adapter power off when you turn off laptop. Simple.
Power adapters either work or fail - they don't deliver lowered powered output.

Never remove/disconnect the battery as the battery is needed to aid the power adapter in higher demanding tasks where this one cannot provide the enough power the battery will kick in to aid and yes as it was said you can leave it on AC as long as you like mine is on AC for more than 8 months now 24/7 the battery will not overcharge same as all my other laptops
