yeah ... another post, seems like no one cares about the laptop.

the fan doesnt even seem to be running at 50% during peak times.. its not even making any noise .. and the temps reach max limit of 75 so fast there is no change in the fan speed...

FO REAL? i just looked into the bios and there is clearly AMD CBS option hidden with so many options we can tweak (including fan control) this and ive managed to remove the limit from 75 to 85 with help of dsdt sideloading via clover ... but the fan controling is very hard to do with dsdt edits.. better give us the bios option we need.

this laptop has so much potential.. i just got 617 cinebench score just like other laptops at cold boot... been only getting 440-480 and only 550 at cold start.. but after removing temperature limit i  get good scores.. which begs the question.. what the [content removed] kind of cost cutting did you guys do to the Thermal paste.. doesnt seem to be doing [content removed] ARCTIC SILVER [content removed] another swift 3 user just repsted his with liquid metal iirc. and he  [content removed] got it as cold as it can ever get... peak usage still just 63c when i get throttled at 75 within 20 seconds....

oh and here is the bios contents  in attachments and picture of cinebench score httpscdndiscordappcomattachments526560113767612419533896846620491786unknownpng

This is all too true. I have the exact same laptop with the exact same issues. Why am I getting throttled at 65C?

Also, why does no software work to report the fan speed? It's either on 100%, or on 0%. It has the worlds worst curve just so you could sell it as "silent" at low workloads.

Come on Acer - I'd expect better.

Any progress or update on this topic guys?
I own a different model sf314-56G but looking for sharing experience with regards to fan control on the Acer swift 3.

Have you checked this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7APC7Z_l2ww before?
And the supplied config files for the SF315-41 you can use with Notebook Fan Control tool https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc:

I know how to solve it.
    Your computer is power throttling.
    Download Throttlestop :https://www.techspot.com/downloads/7289-throttlestop.html
    Set it up
    Open the Application.
    Click on "FIVR"
Click on "Disable and lock Turbo power limits"
    Then Go to "TPL"
On the top you will see Turbo boost power limits with a number on the right. Change those numbers to 4095.
Then drag the slider right below to the far right.
After that your computer should only be held back by its temperature
My Swift 3 with a Core i5 gets a 40% higher Cinebench score and it runs at 95 degrees celcius rather than 70-80.

Is this not damaging the PC itself? I think it is not favorable that the pc reaches such high tempratures, or is it?

Can you share your tpl settings please [a screenshot] ?

Mine [SF314-56G with i5-8265u] according to your settings will initially go above 15W power limit however after the PL1 limit is hit once within a minute, it will throttle back to 15W and stays around 15W. Temp stays under 80C.

I read about it, there seems to be a third power limit set in the BIOS [besides the PL1 and PL2 that Throttlestop can set] that will limit the power to the designed tdp of 15W. I did not manage to unlock the BIOS to find out if I can change this setting.

I know how to solve it.

95C is the thermal limit which supposed to be safe for cpu. Better of course to have better cooling and have it at lower temp.

Just posted a topic about this... acer has given up driver support on this laptop a year after it was released.
my CPU is pegged at 75 degrees when doing work, and the fan just taddles along at, i donno.. seems like 30 or 40%. Cant get any decent performance out of like this. What is one to do? Is acer owned by apple??

I used notebook fanspeed for some time, but it quit working... no idea what to do now.
and, ubuntu on this laptop seems to suffer the same issue... fan never goes to 100%

Also just posted a topic about this. Doesn't seem to be any fix available.
