I'm not sure if they would keep the Helios 500 name scheme but also include the RTX line of cards. That would make some confusion as to 'old' and 'new' Helios models with differing levels of graphics cards. I think they'll likely go forth with the Triton line which will be RTX equipped, while the Helios may stick to the GTX line of cards which will still be relevant and playable for another 3-5 years as game developers slowly integrate RTX features to more and more games. I could also be totally wrong, as I'm just an enthusiast and in no way affiliated with Acer or any other manufacturer.

I think the rtx firstly will be exlusive for the triton 500/900 models and maybe they will do a (cheaper) budget H300 later if enough feedback towards it but i don't think they would get any rtx on H500 models but hey we never know and at some point the H300 and H500 will be discontinued as it's expected with all models as the new ones come up

There is Helios 300 2018 edition and the first one, no one is stopping Acer to launch Helios 500 2019 edition or smth like that, especially after 9th gen intel cpu, but price should be big, nvidia is not joking with RTX.

I don't see why there wouldn't be a refresh of the helios 500. With the great cooling design it has and from many people's comments of how it could handle a GTX 1080, we might even see a helios 500 with RTX 2080, who knows.

To the OP's question: It seems that the RTX for laptops will be a max-q design. Not just the RTX 2080, which will have a max TDP of 150W compared to 215W of the ' reference spec' and 225W of the founder's edition, but the 2070 will have a max tdp of 115W compared to the founder's edition 175W. There is a huge difference in clock speeds too. In best case the RTX 2070 for laptop will be around 20% better than the 1070.

It is almost certain than the RTX laptops won't replace the old ones in price, instead they will be more expensive. After the release of RTX laptops in stores we might see discounts of the GTX 10 series laptops including the helios 500, which I think won't happen.

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Well they use max-q ones for slim laptops dont think so they put max q ones into big laptops like msi titan or asus chimera that have 2 power bricks that would be piontless

In nvidia's spec sheet all RTXes for laptops are shown as max-q. A laptop won't be able to cool a 215W GPU.

Still too early to jump on any rtx as the ray tracing technology its not yet fully developed and will not be in the next 2-3 years so my advice it's stay on gtx 1070-1080 because the rtx laptops will be a waste of good money in my view (for now)

Honestly, RTX is a gimmick. DLSS is the true advantage of RTX cards. And on laptops, I think it will make much more of a difference than on PC.

It might be but if you look on prices helios 500 cost 1799£ where i live and lest say msi gt75 with same i7 and rtx 2070 is like 2599£ so you pay like 800£ just for rtx card

Well, we need to wait for the prices, no point in speculating. Though, i don't think the price increase will be that huge. The 2070 in the laptops will be a Max-Q version, with 100 TDP less than the desktop card. I was reading some initial reviews that it's just 20% more powerful than the 1070.

Lets say the the RTX 2070 mobile will have about the performance of GTX 1080 mobile(the mobile 1080 is about 5-10% slower than the desktop), so I can assume that the price of the RTX 2070 laptops will the similar to the 1080 laptops. I can almost confirm this, because it was the same when the Acer predator 17X(gx-792) appeared with 1080 it didn't replace the 980 version(gx-791) pricewise(was around 500$ more if not more). They increased the price last year, so why not this year too, especially when the GPU prices are also increased compared to last gen.

2070 laptops will take the price of 1080 laptops and 2080 laptops will be sold on a higher price. We don't even know if the helios 500 refresh, if there will be one, will have RTX 2070 or 2080, as the cooling is capable of taking 1080, so it will be able to take 2080maxq. Acer might have listened to people's comments and decide to include a 2080 on the helios 500, who knows.
