Good morning
I have an Acer Aspire m1640 MCP73VE
CPU: Pentium E2180 / 2 GHz
I can not get technical specifications
(There is no SNID)
What kind of memory should be installed?
When I start it, it tells me cmos checksum bad.
Then I press F2 and continue.
Sometimes it happens that freezes without stopping
Thank you

    Memory:
    Memory Type: DDR2 533/667/800
…Support single channel 64 bit mode with maximum memory size up to 4GB
    Support un-buffered DIMM (MCP73S)
    …DIMM Slot: 2
    …Memory Max: 512MB to 4GB DDR2 memory technologies
…Capacity: Up to 2GB per DIMM with maximum memory size up to 4GB

I'm guessing on the BIOS your battery is likely bad, swap it out then go into the BIOS and set to factory defaults and you should be good for several more years. :)

    Thanks for your help.
So 2 DDR 800 2 Gb go well?
As for the BIOS (cmos checksum bad).
It happened after I upgraded the BIOS for Windows 7.
In the program to write the BIOS I left the settings as they were proposed to me.
    Without changing anything. It's right?
    Thank you

Yes, as long as you match the two DIMMs you should be good. Did you get the BIOS from the Acer support site? The only one I see there is R01.C2...

Yes, I got the BIOS from the Acer support site.
    The most recent.
But I have seen that there are others that are less recent.

So you have R01.C2 BIOS installed?

Have you replaced the CMOS battery yet?

Ok. I fixed the BIOS problem. (I wrote an antecedent BIOS in DOS by preparing a USB memory
    But the biggest problem remained.
The PC sometimes freezes (no keyboard commands or mouse but I see the Windows screen, the sound is repeated in small cycles).
    What can the processor be.
I've already done the memory text and it's ok
    Thank you.

After a blue screen the computer has stopped (the power supply works but you can't get into the bios,) I suppose it's the processor I would like to change the processor The Intelcoreduo E8600 is compatible?

IIRC the E8600 ks a Wolfdale CPU that fits an LGA775 socket and uses a 1333 front side bus. If so it should be compatible with your processor. You are making a big assumption that the failures are the result of a processor going bad though. It's perhaps more likely that it's the motherboard, since there are so many more components to fail there...
