Yesterday, My computer updated to the latest build of win10. UPon rebooting, the touchpad was DEAD.

I was able to open the device manager last evening, but was unable to locate the elantech and synaptics drivers were missing. Since I did not have a other mouse, I had to wait till I returned home today with one to go in depth in the device manager.

Alas, I seem to find them, but only as hidden files, and not under the  mouse subheading, but the user interface drivers one. Then when I try and activate them, I get a very dastardly message saying:

Windows has determined that the best driver for this device is already on your machine. There may be better drivers in Windows Update or  on the device manufacturer's website. (My best translation from Spanish).

This is very frustrating, as there seems no other driver for this device that is in the device manager, hidden or unhidden. I have tried both options, updating the drivers on the ACER website and trying to do so through windows update. Neither brought any success.

I have used win10 since 2016 and this has never remotely happened before.

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Open Control Panel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in left pane. Click 'system restore' button. Choose a different restore point if available and click next. Check box 'show more restore points' Click and use the auto restore point for yesterday. Jack E/NJ
