Does anyone know what special thing I have to do to plug an Acer monitor into an Acer laptop WITHOUT the screen on the external monitor shifting two inches to the left? What's the secret?

Open Control Panel. Search 'resolution' . Click 'adjust screen resolution' in left pane. Click on the external monitor. Click detect and identify boxes if needed. Adjust resolution to suit or click advanced settings for more options. Jack E/NJ

First; I have Windows 10; to adjust Display Settings I right click on my Desktop, scroll down to adjust settings, etc. Initially, I thought that Display Settings was the problem too. However, it seems more complicated than that. When I plugged the Acer monitor into my Aspire laptop, the laptop screen shrunk by 10-15% as did the accompanying fonts); the entire screen on my Acer Monitor shifted 2 inches to the left - leaving a black bar on the right side and I am unable to see what's on the left side. If I had known Acer equipment was such a pain in the >>> I would have bought something else.

Better reveal your full ACER model numbers for laptop & monitor. Is the monitor properly detected/identified? Jack E/NJ
