System info:
Acer Nitro 5  (AN515-53)
i5 8300H
12GB RAM
GTX 1050 4GB vRAM
256GB SSD boot drive

Issue details:
Sometimes I boot up the laptop and the performance in games (Destiny 2 @ 1080P low spec) will not go above 30FPS. Frame rate is NOT capped in the settings.
The system even suffers from severe input lag where moving via my XBOX One controller has roughly a 10-15 millisecond delay.
I shut the down/reboot the system a few times and then magically, the FPS goes back up to around 60 FPS (fairly stable).
I have tried MSI afterburner and Throttlestop to no avail.
I don't feel like the temps are the cause since I live in Canada and we are in the middle of our winter here so the ambient temps @ my home are fairly low (35-45 C). Add to that that I generally start gaming as soon as windows is up and running so the system is fairly cool.
I have installed the latest bios update, and Nvidia drivers as well.

  • I suggest you download the latest version of the nvidia driver here: https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/141259
Then make sure your notebook is set up for high performance power options!
